Yep, 140 wussy-free shooters made it to the hottest Big Bonanza of the year (so far). But honestly, it really wasn’t too bad inside the air-conditioned office.  First off I’d like to thank our sponsor for this event. That would be the crew at Pacific Sporting Arms. John, Jordon, Ken and the rest, thank you for your support and help to make this such a great event. Pacific Sporting Arms donates 2 Beretta A400 shotguns for the Big Bonanza Blast which are to be drawn for in June and December.  They’re the gun store that happily (and readily) sponsors the local shooters and the local clubs. They also sponsor the Big Bonanza “Down South” at Redlands Shooting Park. If you can, put this event on your calendar. It takes place on the 2nd Saturday of every month.  Redlands is a great club with a fun course and for free, they’ll provide you with that fun-lovin’-Bonanza-vibe you’re accustomed to.  Oh, and I almost forgot to mention, if you’re a member at Moore N’ Moore, you’ll get to shoot the Redlands Bonanza at member’s rate as well. Why not go? You’re a member!

We had another incredible attendance for the first flight with a whopping 120 shooters. I attribute this month’s huge 1st flight to the expected afternoon heat as we only had 20 shooters attend the 2nd flight. With the 15th station, it ran quite smoothly. We had quite a few True Pair presentations to keep it moving along too and when all was said and done, the first flight was over at 10:45 AM. If you’re finishing after that, you’re changing chokes too often.

Overall, this shoot was a big success. Anytime you can get 140 shooters to come out in one day…in blistering heat, I’d say it was a good day. Thank you all for attending and we’ll be doing it again real soon…probably in like a month.

If you’re interested in becoming a club member, click the image below. If you’re reading this, you’re probably a Big Bonanza shooter. Did you know if you join you’ll save $7 off the entry fee of that event? Not only that, but you’ll save big on targets, ammo and you’ll even get 5% off any new gun at Pacific Sporting Arms.

The young lady, Destiny Zozaya, who has been helping me in the office since she was 12 is nicknamed Fastpass. Why? Because if you take her to Disneyland, she can manage to get you on 20+ rides in one day. Yes, she has the Fastpass schedule all figured out and she’s a true asset to bring with you. But not only is she an asset at Disneyland,  she’s also very helpful at the 2nd Happiest Place on Earth; Moore N’ Moore.

Why does this section title have the word “Farewell”? Because she’s going off to college and I would like to thank her for so many years of help and for always doing such a great job.  While your mom was helping us cook the lunches and your dad was on the course shooting clays, you were either taking pictures, putting up the shoot menus, loading cards, printing scoresheets…ugh, the list goes on forever. With that said, your invaluable assistance will be missed at the Big Bonanza and we hope that you drop out of college and come back to work as soon as possi… err I mean we hope you study hard, get a great job at Blizzard and become a famous digital artist. (sorry, I gotta work on that inner-dialogue).

While you’re away at school, your mom and Dana will send you a Bonanza hotdog via FedEx in case you get hungry. And I won’t forget to include a few scoresheets for you to put into excel if you’re bored.

Good luck Destiny, you’re the best!

Cory, Dana, Noah, Elliot, Janet, Pat, Malina, and Bianka.

High Over All was Jeff Jump with a stellar 89. You might not know this, but Jeff is on his way to Master Class in the NSCA. On that note, I’d like to say Great shooting, Jeff! Don’t let the fame change you, baby.

Runner Up was Shabaz Bassi with 88. Shabaz, is already in Master Class and is arguably one of the best shooters in SoCal, not to mention a classy young man (my hat’s off to his parents and coach Jim Porter). He’s off to college this Fall and Moore N’ Moore would like to wish him the best! I’m sure he’s going to make his parents proud. Be sure to visit on your winter breaks, Shabaz! See you soon.

If you’re interested in lessons…(if you’re not, you should be), give us a call at 818 890 4788 and let us help you get more out of your shooting. If you think it’s fun when you’re missing, it’s really fun when you’re hitting. 🙂

Here are the results of the field…

Big Bonanza Blast - Aug 5, 2018

Congrats Jeff Jump - HOA!

Just so you know, this event, to host, is like having a party. But not just having a party, it’s actually like being at a party too. We love to host this event and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Thanks to everyone that participated and for continuing to make this the best-attended fun shoot in LA. We’ll see you again next month and if you’re interested in joining the NSCA, we have great events like this 2 or 3 times per month where you can win money and dive into BBQ chicken, Tri-Tip, shrimp, pork and more! Just ask us about it or click the “Events” button at the top of this page.
